My name is Adriana and I am the founder of MDAC; the proud 2020 winner of Small Business Sunday as chosen by Theo Paphitis, a man who is not only successful but is also proud to be dyslexic!
I have spent many years working as a teacher and a special educational needs co-ordinator in both the state and independent sectors. I also have several years experience as a Headteacher.
In 2012, I obtained the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination and became qualified to diagnose the specific learning difficulty, dyslexia. I am also a member of the British Dyslexia Association.
My experience in a range of settings has made me only too aware that, in most UK schools, there is limited knowledge of dyslexic abilities. Together with traditional approaches to teaching and exams, this often restricts dyslexic individuals from reaching their full potential. I believe we now need to change our view of dyslexia so that we see it as a valuable way of thinking, rather than merely focusing on the challenges it brings.
As well as working with children, I also undertake diagnostic assessments for adults. Such assessments can be useful for a variety of purposes, such as ensuring reasonable adjustments in the workplace or as evidence when applying for certain benefits.
I do hope I can be of assistance and look forward to hearing from you.
